Kendo

Introduction

Kendo is a soft contact marshal art with the contestants wearing leather armour and using shinais or bamboo swords.

It has been in operation at Auckland Grammar School for the last decade. In order to join, no previous experience is needed and full training is given from novice level to black belt.

Training is conducted two days a week after school in the Old Gym. It is conducted under an Auckland kendo club, the DMK, and as there is no interschool competition, some of our senior members have been graded and involved with, and competed in, inter-club competition.

Master in Charge: A. Razjou. Students are able to speak to him in the Mathematics department during the School day or contact him via email.
