Success at the Hamilton Performing Arts Competition

Now in its 80th year, the Hamilton Performing Arts Competitions for Speech and Drama was held over three days in the Term 2 holiday break, with students from around the country taking part at Waikato Diocesan School in Hamilton.

Form 6 student J. E. M. Park took part in the Poetry competition and received some outstanding results:

  • Receiving the Senior Scholarship (Joan Faire Challenge Cup)
  • Receiving the Roslyn Cunningham Trophy for the highest mark across all age groups in Poetry
  • Receiving the Nelson Family Cup for the highest mark across all age groups in performance of the competitor’s own poem
  • Receiving the Hamilton Competition Society President’s Rose Bowl for the most outstanding item performed during the competition across all sections (dance, instrumental, vocal, piano and speech and drama). This resulted in a special invitation to perform this item in the 2022 Showcase Concert

Park is now preparing for the National Young Performers Awards later in the year, and we wish him all the very best.
