Rugby at Auckland Grammar School is central to the long tradition of hard-work, determination and success embodied in the School motto Per Angusta Ad Augusta - through hardship to glory.
Auckland Grammar School has produced the most All Blacks out of any other school - 52, from M. Herrod in 1893, to the Ioane brothers, Akira and Rieko (classes of 2009 and 2010 respectively).
As well as the inter-school competitions and the national championships, the top rugby teams face various other schools in long-standing traditional fixtures, such as the competition with long-standing rivals King's College.
There are various teams in every year group, from competitive to social. Boys from all skill levels find a place in the Grammar rugby community.
