Mountain Biking is just one of over 35 sports available to students at Auckland Grammar School. With several Auckland and National championships held each year, the amount of work that goes into organising races is staggering.
Because of this, the School is proud to congratulate Master in Charge Mr Jon Hasler who has won the Outstanding Contribution Award at the 2020 Cycling New Zealand Schools Recognition Awards for his ongoing commitment to growing the sport.
Mr Hasler runs and has contributed extensively to the success of the North Island Mountain Biking events in previous years, and took on the event when no one else was willing to, ensuring its continuation. He established and currently coordinates the Auckland Secondary Schools Mountain Biking Series and this continues to grow every year.
The committee says, "There is no end to Jon's passion for the sport and the time he devotes to it is exceptional. On top of his history with creating the Auckland Secondary Schools Cross Country Series, Mr Hasler has still managed to become president of the Auckland Mountain Bike Club and juggle that on top of your responsibilities with being a full time teacher, father and the main man behind the Auckland Grammar School Mountain Biking Club."
A well-deserved honour - congratulations!
