On Sunday, the final of six races in the Auckland Schools Team Time Trial Championships was held at the Pukekohe Raceway.
In challenging weather, the Senior A team consisting of Form 5 student D. F. Barclay, Form 6 students C. N. Boness and J. S. Rackham, and Form 7 students O. H. Grave and C. W. Kerby produced an outstanding ride to secure the win.
The win also meant the squad retained the Auckland Team Time Trial Champions and also set the record for the fastest lap. With both the Senior B and C sides producing excellent results to finish fourth and sixth respectively, the squad can look forward to the upcoming National Championships.
Needing a first or second placing to win the overall Auckland School Team Time Trial series, the Junior A team consisting of Form 4 students E. W. Pawson and O. D. Scarlett, and Form 5 students T. G. S. Bean and T. J. Murray produced an excellent ride to finish second overall and retain the junior Auckland Team Time Trial.
In the individual points races, Form 3 student N. P. Boness produced a commanding performance to comfortably win the Under 14 Auckland title. The Under 17 individual points race was totally dominated by Auckland Grammar cyclists with C. N. Boness finishing first, Rackham second, Barclay third, and Form 6 students C. M. J. Dalton fifth and T. O. Mullins sixth.
The entire Cycling squad is looking to finish the season in strong fashion in the upcoming Northern Tour and National Championships.
