Student's football dreams starting to take shape

Form 6 student Ben Deeley has dreams of becoming a professional footballer.

A transfer student from Timaru Boys' High School, Ben moved from Catherbury to Auckland Grammar School in June 2016 so he could improve his football and academic abilities.

The move has paid off big time, with Ben being selected as part of the New Zealand team to take part in the Oceania Football Confederation's Under 17 Football Championship in Tahiti, the stepping stone to the Football World Cup in India. Ben was absolutely stoked to have made the team - "It's such an awesome feeling to have made the final squad."

The Under 17 team head to Tahiti tomorrow and will play alongside Fiji, Samoa and the Solomon Islands in pool A.

The School wishes Ben and the team all the very best.
