Student Exchange Programme

The Auckland Grammar School Exchange Programme is a great opportunity for students from Auckland Grammar and our partner schools to mutually enjoy the benefits of:

  • Learning about a new culture
  • Studying abroad
  • Immersing in a foreign language
  • Living with a host brother's family
  • Making life-long friendships

General costs:

Students approved by Auckland Grammar to participate on the exchange programme are responsible for:

  • Airfares, travel insurance and incidental expenses associated with travelling abroad
  • Miscellaneous host school general costs, such as uniform (if any), sports gear, stationery, etc
  • School donation to Auckland Grammar School (note: study fees are not payable to the host school)
  • Reciprocated hosting of the exchange student, including room, meals, utilities, transport, general family-life activities (note: your family pays for the hosting expenses of the incoming student, and likewise when you are abroad, the host family pays these for you!)

Exchange Programme Organisations (EPO):

Auckland Grammar students are able to apply for an exchange experience through NZ Government approved exchange organisations, such as AFS or Rotary. For more information, contact Master in Charge: Mr Morton on email p.morton@ags.school.nz.

How to apply:

  • Discuss your interest with the Master in Charge
  • Make an application to participate on exchange
  • Obtain permission from your parents, including their agreement to host the incoming exchange student
  • Decide on the exchange duration normally 4-12 weeks maximum
