Code of Practice

Code of Practice

When students from other countries come to study in New Zealand, it is important that those students are well informed, safe and properly cared for.

Auckland Grammar is signatory to and is bound by the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016, as published by the Minister of Education. A copy of the Code is available from the NZQA website.

Medical and Travel Insurance
International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while enrolled at a New Zealand school. On the application form, you are able to opt for the Auckland Grammar international student insurance policy provided by Southern Cross, or you can provide your own compliant policy to the school prior to enrolment.

Immigration New Zealand
International students are required to hold a valid student visa before commencing study at Auckland Grammar School. A valid student visa names Auckland Grammar School as your school of enrolment.

If you are applying for a visa for the first time, you are required to complete the Immigration New Zealand online application yourself or nominate an agent to assist you. Auckland Grammar is a preferred partner of Immigration New Zealand and therefore we are able to assist you with subsequent student visa renewals (not first time visas).

For full details of student visa requirements and application process visit the Immigration New Zealand here.

Eligibility for Health Services
Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment.

Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed here.

Accident Insurance
The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents, and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs.

Further information can be viewed on the ACC website.
