Augusta Fellowship & Bequests
Introduction
The Augusta Fellowship is Auckland Grammar School's bequest society. Membership of a bequest society such as the Augusta Fellowship makes it possible for the benefactors to be acknowledged and thanked during his/her lifetime. To become an Augusta Fellow the School needs to receive notification in writing from your solicitor. Membership of the Augusta Fellowship will be biennially acknowledged in 'Ad Augusta'. An Augusta Fellow will always be a very special member of the Grammar Community.

The Origin of the Name and the Insignia
The School's mission is embodied in its motto. The name 'Augusta Fellowship' was inspired by the words of the School motto, 'Per Angusta Ad Augusta' (Through rough ravines to hallowed heights). The logo of the Augusta Fellowship is a golden lion rampant within a scroll. The lion represents Auckland Grammar School and the scroll a legal document such as a Will. Both the Fellowship tie and the dress pin feature this unique logo.
Annual Lunch
The Augusta Fellowship hosts an Annual Luncheon for current and prospective members.
Bequests
Bequests and Education
Bequests can come in many forms - money, property, or works of art - all equally valued by the School. The Auckland Grammar School Foundation Trust has governance over and administers monies donated to the School in the form of bequests.
Most of the great educational institutions in the Western World depend on bequests and specific endowments for their success and sometimes their survival. Our country is still relatively young. However, the time has come when we need to follow this established overseas pattern. In the USA alumni regularly leave millions of dollars to their Alma Mater as a matter of course. New Zealand's society is by no means as wealthy. However, even a very modest bequest can make a significant difference to the operation of a school especially one which is funded by the State.
