Introduction

Venturelodge is located in Ohakune on the flanks of Mt Ruapehu in the centre of New Zealand's North Island. Mt Ruapehu is a recently active volcano which erupted spectacularly in 1995 and 1996 hitting the world's press headlines. The mountain is located in the Tongariro National Park, a World Heritage Site.

Venturelodge is a superb facility. It offers accommodation for up to 51 people with excellent facilities. Each room has ensuite, heating and duvets. The lodge is timber lined and boasts drying room, spa pool, relaxing lounge and dining hall, separate meeting hall, an indoor climbing wall, full cooking facilities and friendly atmosphere in a fine rural setting. A professional outdoor ropes course challenges everyone.

Venturelodge is a facility enjoyed by all ages from School groups to outside organisations. School groups regularly use Venturelodge. For instance, all Form 4 (Year 10) students of Auckland Grammar School spend one week based at the lodge. While there, they enjoy a range of activities including tramping, team building, rope challenges, white-water rafting, rock climbing, abseiling and caving. Senior Geography and Biology students have also used Venture Lodge as a base for academic field studies.

When not used for school activities Venturelodge is an ideal venue for corporate team- building and leisure activities. A wide range of outdoor adventures can be arranged.
